Issuer and Scope
Upmos gift cards are issued by Upmos Inc., 9896 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77036. These Terms apply to any gift card branded as a “Upmos Gift Card,” “Upmos eGift,” or similar, whether sold by Upmos directly or through an authorized third-party retailer.
Gift card programs are regulated under the federal Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 (CARD Act), 15 U.S.C. § 1693l-1, and applicable state gift-card laws.
Denominations and Purchase
Gift cards are available in denominations of $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, and $500. Custom denominations between $10 and $500 are available through the eGift order page. Gift cards may be purchased by credit card, debit card, Upmos Honors points, or selected alternative payment methods. Bulk purchases (100+ cards) are available through the corporate gifts portal at /corporate-gifts/.
Redemption
Gift cards may be redeemed at upmos.com toward the purchase of eligible products. Redemption is by entering the card code at checkout. Unused balance remains on the card for future purchases. Gift cards may not be:
- Redeemed for cash, except where required by law (see “Cash Redemption” below);
- Used to purchase another Upmos gift card;
- Used to pay for shipping on a gift-card-only order (the Upmos eGift Card itself has free electronic delivery);
- Combined with certain restricted-category purchases (alcohol, tobacco, firearms accessories, age-restricted items) where the issuing state prohibits.
No Expiration of Funds
Under the federal CARD Act, the underlying funds on a Upmos gift card do not expire for at least five (5) years from the date the card was sold or last loaded. Most states have adopted longer or unlimited validity periods; Upmos applies the most consumer-favorable rule on a state-by-state basis:
- California, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and others: no expiration date on funds;
- All other U.S. states: no expiration earlier than 5 years from the date of activation or last load.
No Service Fees
Upmos does not charge any dormancy, inactivity, or service fee on gift cards. The CARD Act limits inactivity fees to a single fee per month after twelve (12) months of inactivity if disclosed at sale; Upmos has elected not to impose any such fees. No purchase fee, activation fee, or maintenance fee is charged.
Cash Redemption — State-Specific
Some states require cash refund of unredeemed gift-card balances below specified thresholds:
- California: cash refund of balance under $10;
- Colorado: cash refund of balance under $5;
- Connecticut: cash refund of balance under $3;
- Maine: cash refund of balance under $5;
- Massachusetts: cash refund when balance falls below $5 (or 10% of original card value, whichever is greater);
- Montana: cash refund of balance under $5;
- New Jersey: cash refund of balance under $5;
- Oregon: cash refund of balance under $5;
- Rhode Island: cash refund of balance under $1;
- Vermont: cash refund of balance under $1;
- Washington: cash refund of balance under $5.
To request a cash refund of a low-balance card under state law, contact Customer Service at support@upmos.com with the card number, the holder’s address, and a copy of state-issued ID.
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Cards
Upmos is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or unauthorized-use gift cards, except as required by law. Treat your gift card like cash. If a physical card is damaged but the code is still readable, contact Customer Service for assistance.
Returns and Refunds
Gift cards purchased directly from Upmos may be returned within thirty (30) days if unused, for a full refund to the original payment method. Cards purchased through third-party retailers must be returned per that retailer’s policy. Refunds of items purchased with a gift card are returned to the gift card.
Escheatment / Unclaimed Property
Where required by applicable state law, the unredeemed balance of a gift card may be reported and remitted to the state as unclaimed property after the applicable dormancy period (typically 3–5 years). Upmos complies with each state’s escheatment requirements and notifies the holder of record to the extent feasible prior to remittance.
Resale Prohibited
Gift cards may not be resold (except through Upmos-authorized resale platforms) without written authorization. Cards resold in violation of this Policy may be deactivated at sole discretion.
Fraud Protection
If you believe your gift card was obtained through fraud — including the “gift card draining” or “QR sticker overlay” scam — report it immediately to abuse@upmos.com. Suspicious cards are deactivated and replacements issued where supported by evidence. Always inspect physical cards for tampering before purchase.
